Visual Design
While we normally use an external vendor for end-of year fundraising, in 2016 the Development and Communications teams decided to handle it on our own. We needed to come up with themes for three rounds of emails, as well as imagery and promotional images for social media.
Content
After brainstorming with our Individual Giving Officer, we decided to base our themes on our three-step model towards eradicating modern slavery: respond, equip, disrupt. Each step highlighted a different programmatic team at Polaris and the work it was doing. Our Individual Giving Officer took the lead on writing email content, while I created social media and blog content.
Design
I created images for donation pages, email headers, and social promotion based on the programs highlighted in the campaign: the National Human Trafficking Hotline, and our teams fighting Sex Trafficking in Mexico and Illicit Massage Businesses.
Results
We raised nearly $60,000 in 24 hours from 426 donors, including 178 new donors (compared to $46,000 from 235 donors the previous year).
